Job Title: Family Liaison Support Officer
Reports To: Family Liaison Manager
Contract: Part-Time for 12-15hrs per week

SCOPE
The role of Family Liaison Support Officer is to act as a bridge between GIFT’s recipients and GIFT’s food distribution. This is achieved by providing up to date information to both parties, enabling professional and cost-effective procedures for GIFT and a high-quality service for recipients. Expectations must be well managed and sound judgment used to determine family status and priority of needs.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Family Liaison Officer with visits to new and existing GIFT recipients
Field incoming calls from existing and potential GIFT recipients
Arrange home visits for the Family Liaison Officer to attend for new recipients
Arrange and carry out home visits and phone calls for existing GIFT recipients in order to complete assessments based on set criteria
Ensure all families’ changes of circumstance or preferences are recorded and updated on the database in a timely manner and that information is communicated across relevant departments to ensure efficient workflow and cost efficiencies
Develop relationships with families and households through regular contact (at least every 3 months) and conducting formal reviews (every 6 months), offering them other support in the form of volunteers/meals, etc and assessing whether they still need to receive parcels
Regularly communicate required reports and any changes in the food list to the Food and Warehouse Teams
Act as a conduit to ensure ad-hoc cooked or frozen meals, flowers for celebrations, toys or other items donated to GIFT can reach as many families as possible using all means at your disposal (such as redirecting cooked food to our volunteer who receives and distributes this type of food)
Assist the Family Liaison Officer to agree with the Services Manager and other relevant members of staff which families should receive money (and how much) from various funds donated to GIFT to distribute amongst GIFT families
Create lists for the Camp Simcha toy drive at Chanukah and ensure the details of Chanukah presents with age and gender of each child are recorded
Decide on priority of need which household should receive the limited chicken voucher scheme and organise for the families to take receipt of the vouchers
Liaise with partner charities and attend meetings/forums with other Jewish and Non-Jewish welfare organisations. Use the knowledge of other charities to refer our families to partner organisations who can also assist them
Meet weekly with Line Manager to update on progress and discuss workload
Contact suppliers and distributors to request donations of food/specific items needed by our families.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
We are looking for candidate who can demonstrate a number of the following personality traits and experiences:
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, excelling in the relationships built with stakeholders and working across various teams
Must be a self-starter, capable of working on their own and managing multiple priorities, yet can take direction and work well within a team
Outgoing and proactive, demonstrating attention to detail and methodical in approach
A problem solver who is able to apply different ways of thinking in different situations
Must have a good knowledge and understanding of the UK Jewish community, religion and culture
Experience of working with Family Support and/or Social Services would be advantageous
Previous use and ability to use a database/CRM software
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must
A full clean driving licence is required
